Many of you have been following a strict training schedule during the last couple of weeks and months. You stood poised to go on the starting blocks en masse to shine on 12th September. And we noticed! Your sustained enthusiasm was the motivation for us to do our utmost over the last couple of weeks to allow the first edition of the Port of Antwerp Night Marathon to go ahead after all, in line with current measures.
Nevertheless, current events surrounding COVID-19 have brought us back down to earth and have forced us to postpone the first edition until next year. Under the current circumstances, it is no longer realistic to have a festive and safe event on 12th September. This is a bitter pill to swallow for you and for us. However, we – as a society – have to take our collective responsibility and comply with the measures taken by the government at this time. It will require joint and large-scale efforts to get COVID-19 under control. In addition, we - as an organisation – have to take our own responsibility to safeguard the health of the participants, volunteers, spectators and all other people involved.
On 11th September 2021, there will be a new edition of the Port of Antwerp Night Marathon. Your registration will automatically transfer to the new edition. You do not have to do anything else for now. You are unable to attend on the new date? Then, you can transfer your registration to a friend, colleague, family member,.... until 15/08/2021. Please contact us via firstname.lastname@example.org to do so. Please also get in touch if you are unable to take part on the new date for professional, medical or other pressing reasons and if you would like to request a credit voucher or refund of your registration fees. We would like to ask that you provide us with valid (third-party) proof of your personal pressing reason.
We still want to offer you a new challenge this year. After all, it would be a shame not to reward you for the enormous amount of effort and time put into training. For that purpose, we are currently working on an alternative, digital version of the Port of Antwerp Night Marathon. Keep an eye on our channels for more information to come over the next weeks.
